Animal Compassion : The Hippo and The Leopard

January 7, 2009

For those believers who claim that it is religion and religion only that breeds compassion for other living beings and forms the basis of all ethics and morality, here are two videos which show that compassion and kindness can be observed in animals too.  What religion can we attribute such compassionate behavior too?  What knowledge of Karma or fear of hell-fire and judgement day prodded the hippopotamus or the leopard to behave in this manner ? Stuff to think about when we claim that humans are unique in their compassion and religion is the only answer to our sense of right and wrong.

I have seen some examples like this in my personal life, my dog has raised many kittens, loved and protected them.
And random tom cats adopt little orphaned kittens, it must be common, I have seen this twice. Will blog about it.
Thanks for sharing these videos:) Seen the second one, now going to see the first one.

The second video is amazing too. Also shows how little the common man understands animals.
